Chingford League Victoria Park 5th February 2011

A somewhat windy afternoon for the final individual race of the season - not an afternoon for PB's (for the course - not 5miles as it is short). An excellent turnout (40 in all) with some good results all round and we gave Orion a run for their money - although VP surprised by winning the Senior Men. Overall winners included the Men Vets, Richard McCormick (Both Senior Men & Vets) and Nicola Froud (Both Senior Ladies & Vets). Great to see Jon Kilsby back running after a 2 year absence with injuries. Our results are here and the full detailed final results are here.

North West London League Copthall Stadium 5th February 2011

Everyone did really well but a couple of names deserve mention.
Charlotte Michael gave a wonderful performance for Barnet coming first in the Under 17 Women after racing in the Herts Schools in the morning.
Race organizers were very impressed by Luke Gray's run and predicted further improvement.
Michael Martin - Team Manager Our full results are here

Southern Cross Country Champs Parliament Hill 29th January 2011

Some excellent performances all round - and some of the best team positions for both the Men and Women for several years.
Well done to all - I hear that the start of the Men's race was a bit chaotic and a couple of hundred athletes were still coming through the tent as the gun went off... Our results are here

Chingford League Epping Forest 22nd January 2011

Mud, water and yet more mud. A simple description of the conditions. Not ideal if your spikes were not long enough (Andy C) and as for John Owen, the attached photo simply sums it up. John though is a true harrier, a runner of spirit and despite a bruised wrist and sore legs from the fall, was back out at the Fred Hughes the following day. Results are here from the senior race. Team and overall results here
A good win for the Vet Men should secure the overall at the final League race at Victoria Park. 2nd places all round aside from the Lady Vets who were third - highlighting a good turnout all round.

I was very pleased for us to finish a team, as for many years we have been represented by only one or two members - John Atkinson

SCVets Cross Country Old Warden 11th December 2010

A couple of Saturdays before Xmas was potentially not the best date for these Champs and appeared to me that some of the races were a bit less well supported then usual. Mind you the change from January or March to December also meant that the likes of Julian Critchlow of Harrow missed out on being in a new age group (50+) by a matter of days ( which he would probably have won...) There's always next year.
An excellent venue with a fast course and a couple of undulations per lap and good going under foot. Overall only the Men 60's won team medals with 3rd team place & Des taking 3rd individual despite suffering from man flu, in the Men 70's Tony Hamilton was 2nd & Ted Kimber 3rd individuals, excellent results. Also an excellent run by Nicola F with 11th in her race & 6th W40. Our results are here
